Description

This Tres Leches Cake is a delightful dessert that showcases a moist sponge soaked in three types of milk. Its creamy texture and rich flavor make it a favorite for any occasion, from family dinners to festive celebrations. Easy to prepare and absolutely delicious!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour, or substitute 1:1 gf flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 5 eggs, (large)
  • 1 cup sugar, divided into 3/4 and 1/4 cups
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup whole milk
  • 12 oz evaporated milk
  • 9 oz sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/3 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 cup berries, to garnish, optional

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 °F and prepare a 9×13 casserole pan by buttering it. Set up three mixing bowls.
  2. In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Place egg whites in one bowl and egg yolks in another.
  3. Using an electric mixer, beat egg yolks and 3/4 cup sugar at high speed until pale yellow, about 2 minutes. Mix in milk and vanilla.
  4. In the third bowl, beat egg whites until soft peaks form, then gradually add the remaining sugar and continue beating until stiff peaks form.
  5. Gently pour the egg yolk mixture into the flour mixture and combine with a spatula. Carefully fold in the egg white mixture until just blended. Transfer the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the surface. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

Notes

For a gluten-free version, substitute the all-purpose flour with a gluten-free blend at a 1:1 ratio.
Let the cake cool completely before soaking it with the milk mixture for the best flavor absorption.
Feel free to garnish with fresh berries for added color and taste.
