Description

This Strawberry Cream Cheese Danish features a delightful combination of strawberry jam and rich cream cheese. Easy to prepare, it’s perfect for breakfast or brunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz. package cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 17.3 oz. box puff pastry dough, (2 sheets), thawed but refrigerated
  • ½ cup strawberry jam, other flavors also work
  • 1 tsp orange or lemon zest, (optional)
  • 1 tbsp milk, any type works
  • 1 tbsp turbinado sugar, or use granulated sugar
  • 1½ cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375℉ and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Beat the cream cheese and powdered sugar together until smooth.
  3. Unfold the puff pastry on the baking sheet, noticing the three vertical sections.
  4. Cut 1-inch strips from the edges of the pastry sheet, leaving the middle intact.
  5. Spread the cream cheese filling in the center section of the pastry sheets.
  6. Mix the strawberry jam with optional zest and spread over the cream cheese filling.
  7. Fold the slits from the top to the middle in a braiding pattern.
  8. Brush the pastry with milk on top of each braid.
  9. Sprinkle turbinado sugar over the top.
  10. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  11. Cool each Danish for 15 minutes before glazing.
  12. Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla for the glaze, then pour over the baked pastries.

Notes

Ensure the puff pastry is fully thawed for ease of handling.
Experiment with different jam flavors for unique variations.
Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature.
