Description

This Spaghetti Pie is a delightful combination of flavors, featuring a cheesy crust and a hearty meat sauce. Perfect for a quick dinner, it promises satisfaction with every bite!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 6 ounces spaghetti
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley or 2 teaspoons dried parsley
  • ½ teaspoon dried basil or 1 tablespoon fresh
  • 1 pound lean ground beef or italian sausage
  • ½ small onion diced
  • 14.5 ounces canned diced tomatoes drained
  • 2 cups pasta sauce or marinara sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and grease a deep-dish pie plate.
  2. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium-high heat, then drain excess fat. Add diced onion and cook for about 3 minutes. Stir in diced tomatoes and pasta sauce, then let it simmer uncovered for 10 minutes until thickened.
  3. Cook spaghetti in salted water according to package directions until al dente, then drain well.
  4. Transfer the cooked spaghetti to the prepared pie plate, add butter, and toss to coat. Mix in eggs and grated parmesan cheese, and press the mixture down to form a crust.
  5. In a medium bowl, combine ricotta cheese, parsley, and basil. Spread this cheese mixture over the spaghetti crust, then top with the meat sauce.
  6. Bake uncovered for 20-25 minutes, then sprinkle with mozzarella and bake for an additional 5 minutes until the cheese is browned and bubbly. Let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

You can substitute lean ground beef with Italian sausage for a different flavor.
Feel free to add vegetables like spinach or bell peppers for extra nutrition.
