Description

This delightful Red, White and Blue Fruit Salad features juicy watermelon, fresh berries, and crisp apples. Ideal for summer gatherings, this colorful dish is easy to prepare and adds a fun touch to any meal. Enjoy its refreshing flavor and appealing presentation for your next barbecue or picnic.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 small seedless watermelon or 1/2 of a large watermelon
  • 8 apples (optionally reserve 1 for making stars)
  • ½ yellow honeydew melon
  • 4 cups strawberries (stems removed)
  • 2 cups raspberries
  • 2 cups blueberries
  • 1 cup red grapes
  • 1 cup blackberries
  • lemon juice for soaking apples (1 tablespoon per 1 cup of water)

Instructions

  1. Wash all fruit and allow them to dry.
  2. Cut up the watermelon, apples, and honeydew melon into small squares. Cut strawberries into halves or quarters depending on their size. If not serving immediately, soak apple slices in a mixture of lemon juice and water for at least 10 minutes after slicing, using 1 tablespoon of lemon juice per cup of water for soaking apples.
  3. Arrange blueberries and blackberries at the top left of your serving dish to start, then layer red, white, red, white, and red fruits in a horizontal line until all fruits are layered or the dish is filled to your liking.
  4. Cut one apple into star shapes using a cookie cutter and place the stars on top of the blueberries to complete the patriotic look.

Notes

For a vibrant display, use a variety of fruits in similar colors.
This salad pairs well with grilled meats or can be enjoyed on its own as a refreshing snack.
Consider adding mint leaves for a hint of extra freshness.
