Description

Mixed Berry Crisp is an irresistible dessert bursting with flavor and simplicity. Using fresh strawberries and blueberries, this dish is perfect for anyone seeking an easy homemade treat.


Ingredients

  • ¾ cup (93g) all purpose flour
  • ¾ cup (64g) quick cook oats
  • ¾ cup (150g) packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 6 tablespoons (78g) cold unsalted butter, diced
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 pound strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 2 cups blueberries, frozen or fresh
  • ½ cup (50g) granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 3 tablespoons (24g) cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, oats, cinnamon, and salt. Use a pastry cutter to mix in the cold diced butter until crumbly. Set aside.
  3. In another bowl, combine the hulled and sliced strawberries with blueberries. Sprinkle with granulated sugar, lemon juice, and cornstarch, tossing gently.
  4. Transfer the berry mixture to the bottom of an 8-inch square pan.
  5. Top the berries with the crumble mixture, pressing down lightly to compact it.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-33 minutes until the topping is browned and crunchy. Allow to cool before serving.

Notes

For an extra crunch, add chopped nuts to the crumble topping.
Use seasonal fruits for a more vibrant flavor.
Serve warm over vanilla ice cream for a delicious treat.
