Description

Mississippi Chicken is a wonderfully flavorful dish made with simple ingredients. Enjoy tender chicken, savory spices, and easy preparation, perfect for quick weeknight dinners or comforting family meals.

  • 2 to 3 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breast
  • 6 to 12 peperoncini peppers
  • 1 (1-oz) packet au jus gravy mix
  • 1 (1-oz) packet ranch dressing mix
  • 5 tablespoons unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Prep: Spray a 5 or 6 quart slow cooker with cooking spray and prepare your ingredients.
  2. Chicken: Pat the chicken dry with paper towels and layer it at the bottom of the slow cooker.
  3. Season: Arrange the peperoncini peppers around the chicken and add a few tablespoons of liquid from the jar. Sprinkle the au jus and ranch dressing mix over the chicken.
  4. Butter: Cut the butter into tablespoons and place evenly over the seasoned chicken.
  5. Slow Cook: Cover and cook on HIGH for 2.5 to 4 hours or on LOW for 6 to 8 hours. Ensure the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
  6. Shred: Transfer the chicken to a cutting board and let it rest for 10 minutes. Pull it into chunks instead of shredding.
  7. Serve: Stir the chicken back into the sauce and serve with your favorite sides.

Notes

Adjust the number of peperoncini for desired heat level.
This dish pairs well with rice or mashed potatoes.
