Ingredients
Scale
- 700g / 24 oz ground beef, I used 5% fat
- 300g / 10 oz Italian sausages, casings removed
- 1 tbsp salt
- 1 egg
- 6 slices prosciutto
- 1/2 red onion, sliced (optional)
- 1 tomato, sliced
- 6 slices provolone cheese
- 6 tbsp basil pesto, can use store bought or homemade
- 6 tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 clove garlic, grated
- 3 tbsp Parmesan cheese, grated
- 6 Romaine lettuce leaves
- 6 burger buns
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix the ground beef, Italian sausages, beaten egg, and salt gently. Divide into 6 equal portions and shape into patties about 1 inch thick.
- Make an indentation in the center of each patty to keep them from puffing during cooking. Chill in the fridge for at least 1 hour or 30 minutes in the freezer.
- Preheat the oven to 200C/400F and bake the prosciutto on a lined baking dish for 6-8 minutes until crispy. Let cool.
- Mix the mayonnaise with grated garlic and Parmesan cheese, and set aside. Slice the onions and tomatoes for toppings.
- Grill the patties for 5 minutes on each side. In the last minute, add cheese to melt and lightly toast the buns on the grill.
- Assemble the burgers: spread pesto on the bottom bun, add lettuce, the burger patty, prosciutto, and tomato. Top with garlic Parmesan mayo and enjoy immediately.
Notes
For the best flavor, chill burger patties before cooking.
Monitor grilling closely to avoid burning, especially with brioche buns.
Feel free to customize toppings based on your preference.
