Description

Kick up your breakfast game with this Homemade Apple Cider Syrup! Made with fresh apple juice and brown sugar, it’s a scrumptious topping for pancakes, waffles, and French toast. This easy recipe is perfect for bringing a touch of comfort to any meal.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups apple juice
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1½ tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Heat a heavy bottomed saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add the apple juice, brown sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, apple cider vinegar, and butter to the saucepan and whisk to combine.
  3. Bring the mixture to a boil and continue to boil for 2 minutes while stirring occasionally.
  4. Remove from heat, add the vanilla, and stir again.
  5. Allow to cool completely, then serve with pancakes, waffles, French toast, or ice cream.

Notes

For a thicker syrup, allow it to boil a bit longer before removing it from heat.
This syrup can be stored in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
