Ingredients
Scale
- 1 (8 ounce) block extra firm tofu, pat dry and cut into 1-inch cubes
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar or white vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds, optional, for garnish
- 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce or sweet soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons peanut butter
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon lime juice, freshly squeezed
Instructions
- Toss the cubed tofu with soy sauce, sesame oil, and vinegar in a large mixing bowl. Ensure the tofu is evenly coated in the marinade.
- Thread the marinated tofu onto bamboo skewers, spacing them slightly apart, with 4-5 cubes per skewer.
- Brush the grill pan or skillet with oil and preheat it over medium-high heat for 1-2 minutes until shimmering. Place the skewers in the pan, ensuring space between them. Grill for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy, brushing with leftover soy sauce marinade periodically for added flavor.
- Prepare the peanut dipping sauce by whisking together hoisin sauce, peanut butter, water, sesame oil, and lime juice until smooth. Set it aside.
- Sprinkle the grilled tofu skewers with sesame seeds and serve them immediately with the peanut dipping sauce.
Notes
For extra flavor, marinate the tofu for longer if time allows.
Ensure to soak bamboo skewers in water for 30 minutes before grilling to prevent burning.
