Description

This Easy Oreo Frosting features a delightful blend of creamy butter and cheese, with crushed Oreo cookies for an irresistible flavor. It’s perfect for topping your favorite cakes or cupcakes, offering a quick and delicious homemade treat.

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 5 cups powdered sugar, sifted
  • 34 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 8 Oreo chocolate sandwich cookies, crushed into fine crumbs

Instructions

  1. In a stand mixer or using a handheld mixer, beat the softened butter, cream cheese, and vanilla on medium-high speed for 2-2½ minutes until smooth and fluffy.
  2. Reduce mixer speed to medium-low and gradually add powdered sugar, 1½ cups at a time. Alternate with 1 tablespoon of heavy cream after each sugar addition.
  3. Continue mixing until the frosting is smooth and creamy.
  4. Gently fold in the finely crushed Oreos, ensuring there are no large clumps for piping consistency. Store in the refrigerator if not using immediately.
  5. Before using, bring the frosting to room temperature for 20–30 minutes, then re-whip for 15–30 seconds until fluffy.

Notes

For best results, ensure butter and cream cheese are at room temperature before mixing.
Finely crushed Oreos are crucial for piping; avoid large clumps to maintain texture.
