Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened to room temperature
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 5 cups powdered sugar, sifted
- 3–4 tablespoons heavy cream
- 8 Oreo chocolate sandwich cookies, crushed into fine crumbs
Instructions
- In a stand mixer or using a handheld mixer, beat the softened butter, cream cheese, and vanilla on medium-high speed for 2-2½ minutes until smooth and fluffy.
- Reduce mixer speed to medium-low and gradually add powdered sugar, 1½ cups at a time. Alternate with 1 tablespoon of heavy cream after each sugar addition.
- Continue mixing until the frosting is smooth and creamy.
- Gently fold in the finely crushed Oreos, ensuring there are no large clumps for piping consistency. Store in the refrigerator if not using immediately.
- Before using, bring the frosting to room temperature for 20–30 minutes, then re-whip for 15–30 seconds until fluffy.
Notes
For best results, ensure butter and cream cheese are at room temperature before mixing.
Finely crushed Oreos are crucial for piping; avoid large clumps to maintain texture.
Store any leftover frosting in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
