- 3 large onions
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 4 ounces cream cheese (softened)
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 2 teaspoon hot sauce (optional)
Instructions
- Half each onion, discard the ends and peel, then slice into thin strips.
- Place onions in the crockpot, drizzle with olive oil, and season with salt and pepper. Mix well to coat.
- Cover and cook on low for 8 hours, or overnight.
- Stir in sour cream, softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, and optional hot sauce. Mix until combined, adjusting seasoning to taste.
- Serve warm from the slow cooker or chill for at least 1 hour before serving as a cold dip.
Notes
For thicker dip, drain excess juices from the onions before mixing in the other ingredients.
Experiment with different types of cheese for varied flavor.
