  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 teaspoon italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ cup (31 g) all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided
  • 5 teaspoons garlic, minced
  • 1 cup (8 ounces) chicken broth
  • ½ cup (119 g) heavy cream
  • ¼ cup (25 g) finely grated parmesan cheese
  • 12 teaspoons fresh lemon juice, optional, to brighten flavor
  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Season chicken breasts with Italian seasoning, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
  2. Coat the chicken in flour, shaking off excess.
  3. In a skillet, heat olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat.
  4. Add the chicken breasts and cook until golden brown and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes per side. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  5. In the same skillet, add the remaining butter and the minced garlic, cooking until fragrant.
  6. Pour in chicken broth and heavy cream, stirring to combine and bring to a simmer.
  7. Add parmesan cheese, stirring until melted and the sauce has thickened.
  8. Return the chicken to the skillet, spooning sauce over it. Let simmer for a few minutes.
  9. Finish with fresh lemon juice and garnish with chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

For a kick of flavor, add sautéed mushrooms or spinach to the sauce.
Adjust the thickness of the sauce with additional chicken broth or cream as needed.
