- 4 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons granulated garlic
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 1 tablespoon kosher salt
- 1 tablespoon coarse ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon dry mustard
- 8 hamburger buns
- Lettuce, tomato, red onion for serving, plus your favorite condiments
Instructions
- Prepare a grill fire to about 300°F using hickory or oak wood for smoke.
- Combine the brown sugar, garlic, smoked paprika, salt, pepper, and dry mustard in a bowl to create the steak rub.
- Mix the seasoning blend into the ground beef and form it into 8 patties, making an indention in the center of each.
- Cook the patties over indirect heat with the grill lid closed for 5 minutes, then flip and cook until they reach an internal temperature of 165°F.
- Remove the burgers from the grill and serve on hamburger buns topped with lettuce, tomato, onion, and condiments of choice.
Notes
For added flavor, let the burger patties rest for about 10 minutes before grilling.
