Description

This Chewy Gooey Chocolate Chip Skillet Cookie offers a delightful blend of rich flavors and simple preparation. With irresistible chocolate chips in a warm, gooey center, it’s perfect for an easy homemade dessert that everyone will love.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 3 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 10 ounces chocolate chips, milk or semi-sweet, your choice!
  • flaked salt, for topping

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Heat a 12-inch oven-safe skillet over low heat for about 5 minutes. Melt the butter completely in the skillet. Stir in the brown sugar and sugar with a wooden spoon. Turn off the heat or remove the skillet from the burner.
  • Whisk the egg and egg yolks in a bowl, then add them to the skillet mixture, stirring quickly to avoid cooking the eggs. Mix in the vanilla extract.
  • Add the dry ingredients to the skillet and mix until just combined, wiping any excess flour from the skillet sides if needed.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until mostly set in the center. Top with flaked sea salt before serving.
  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.

Notes

Using a cast iron skillet enhances flavor and provides even cooking.
Feel free to experiment with different types of chocolate chips for varied flavors.
Store leftovers in an airtight container to maintain freshness.
