Caramel Apple Trifles are a delightful treat that combines tender apples, warm spices, and creamy Cool Whip layered with moist pound cake. Perfect for a quick dessert!

- 3 granny smith apples
- 2 teaspoons lemon juice
- pinch of nutmeg
- 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 4 tablespoons brown sugar
- 12 ounces pound cake you could also use any cake you prefer – white, angel food, etc
- 8 ounces cool whip
- 6 tablespoons caramel sauce
Instructions
- Peel and chop the apples into small cubes and toss them into a medium saucepan.
- Add the lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and brown sugar, and stir well.
- Let the mixture simmer over medium heat for about 10 minutes until the apples soften and the sugar melts into a syrup.
- Set aside to cool, ensuring it’s not piping hot when assembling.
- Cut the pound cake into bite-sized cubes.
- Fill a piping bag (or a zip-top bag with a corner snipped off) with Cool Whip.
- Begin assembling by putting a layer of pound cake cubes in serving glasses or jars.
- Spoon on a layer of the apple mixture, followed by caramel sauce.
- Pipe on a generous layer of Cool Whip.
- Repeat the layering with pound cake, apples, caramel, and Cool Whip.
- Finish with a final drizzle of caramel on top. Serve immediately or refrigerate.
Notes
You can substitute the pound cake with any cake of your choice.
For added texture, consider adding crushed nuts as a topping.
These can be prepared in advance and stored in the fridge for a few hours.
