Description

This Caramel Apple Crisp with Crunchy Oat Topping is a delightful blend of tender apples and a crunchy topping. With its simple preparation and rich flavors, it’s an ideal dessert for gatherings or a comforting treat at home.


Ingredients

  • 6 granny smith apples, cut into 1/2" pieces
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce
  • 8 tablespoons butter, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2/3 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup old-fashioned rolled oats

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
  2. In a bowl, combine the diced apples and lemon juice, stirring to coat.
  3. Sprinkle the flour and cinnamon over the apples, tossing until well coated, then place the mixture in a 9" pie plate.
  4. Drizzle 1/2 cup of caramel sauce over the apple mixture and set aside.
  5. In another bowl, mix the softened butter, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and oats until it forms crumbles.
  6. Sprinkle the oat topping over the apple mixture.
  7. Bake for 35-45 minutes until the topping is golden.
  8. Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before drizzling additional caramel on top before serving.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream for an extra treat.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
Reheat in the oven for a few minutes to restore crispness.
