Ingredients
Scale
- 3 cups whipping cream
- ¾ cup powdered sugar
- 1 ½ teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 1 angel food cake (or pound cake, 10 to 12 ounces)
- 2 pounds strawberries
- 1 pint blueberries
- 3 tablespoons seedless strawberry jam
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon honey (or sugar)
- ¼ teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Instructions
- Begin by preparing the sauce. Whisk together the seedless strawberry jam, lemon juice, and honey (or sugar) in a small bowl.
- In another bowl, combine the whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Whip until soft peaks form.
- Slice the angel food cake into bite-sized pieces.
- Start layering the trifle by placing pieces of cake at the bottom of a serving dish.
- Add a layer of whipped cream on top of the cake, followed by a layer of sliced strawberries and blueberries.
- Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with whipped cream and berries on top.
Notes
For a lower sugar option, reduce the amount of powdered sugar in the whipped cream.
You can substitute other berries like raspberries or blackberries if preferred.
Make it ahead of time—assemble the trifle a few hours before serving and refrigerate.
