Ingredients
Scale
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 1 ½ teaspoons granulated garlic or garlic powder
- 1 ½ teaspoons onion powder
- 1 teaspoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ¼ to ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper, or to taste
- 2 racks pork baby back ribs, 2.5 to 3 pounds total weight
- ½ cup BBQ sauce, or as needed
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F, positioning the oven rack in the center.
- Line a large rimmed baking sheet with foil and mix all dry rub ingredients in a bowl.
- Rinse the ribs under cool water, dry them with paper towels, and remove the membrane if present.
- Place ribs, meaty side down, on a large piece of foil and rub one-third of the seasoning mix on the bony side.
- Flip the ribs, rubbing the remaining seasoning over the meaty side, and wrap in foil tightly.
- Set the foil packet on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 2 hours until tender.
- Switch the oven to BROIL and carefully open the foil packet to transfer the ribs onto the baking sheet, meaty side down.
- Baste the bony side with BBQ sauce, flip, and baste the meaty side generously.
- Broil for 4 to 6 minutes until the sauce caramelizes.
- Let the ribs rest for about 5 minutes, then slice into individual pieces.
Notes
For a spicier kick, adjust cayenne pepper to taste.
Allowing the ribs to rest boosts flavor and tenderness.
Use your favorite BBQ sauce for varied taste.
