These 4-Ingredient Brownies are a delightful treat with their rich chocolate flavor and simple preparation. Perfect for a quick dessert or whenever you crave homemade goodness!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup butter, or oil
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa, preferably dutch processed
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1/4 tsp salt, leave out if using salted butter
- 1/2 cup favorite add-ins (chopped dark chocolate, chocolate chips or walnuts)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350F. Grease an 8×8 square pan or a 9×5 loaf pan, or line with parchment or foil; set aside.
- In a large microwave-safe mixing bowl, melt the butter in the microwave for 1 minute. Add the sugar and cocoa powder and whisk vigorously for about a minute until the sugar dissolves.
- Add the eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla, whisking for at least 1 minute until well combined and the batter is shiny.
- Stir in the flour and salt until fully combined, being careful not to overmix.
- (Optional) Fold in 1/2 cup of your choice of nuts, raisins, chocolate chips, or any desired add-ins.
- Spread the batter into the prepared pan and bake for approximately 20 minutes or until the center is just set. Take care not to over-bake!
- Cool completely before cutting into 9 large squares or 16 small squares.
Notes
For a richer flavor, use unsalted butter and increase the cocoa to 3/4 cup.
Store brownies in an airtight container to maintain freshness.
Add-ins can vary based on personal preference, so feel free to experiment.
