- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 cup (120g) all-purpose flour, spoon and leveled
- gel or liquid-gel food coloring (optional)
Instructions
- Cream together butter, powdered sugar, salt, and vanilla in a large bowl until well combined.
- Mix in the flour until there are no dry streaks left.
- If desired, set aside a small portion of dough for uncolored centers and add food coloring to the larger portion to create flower petals.
- Roll dough into 1 teaspoon-sized balls; refrigerate if dough is too sticky.
- Arrange cookie dough on a parchment-lined baking sheet into flower shapes, using one uncolored ball for the center and surrounding it with colored balls as petals.
- Chill shaped cookies in the freezer for 10 minutes while preheating the oven to 350°F.
- Bake cookies for 12 to 15 minutes in the preheated oven until golden around the edges.
- Cool on the baking sheet for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
